Loro Piana Interiors presents the 2022 collection devoted exclusively to decoration. A real first for the brand, showcasing a unique interpretation of designs, motifs and textures, against a backdrop of iconic fabrics – linen, cotton, wool and cashmere, together with refreshing innovations in outdoor materials, offering the most exquisite creations, with endless potential for combination and co-ordination.
The fabrics have been crafted using different techniques for the most delicate floral motifs, geometric designs or vibrant brushstrokes of colour.
Firstly, print, inspired by Loro Piana’s textile heritage, with exclusive shades, lovingly created with an eye for both depth and detail, whilst retaining the exquisite softness of cashmere and wool with the cool feel of linen and cotton. The decorations, embroidered on wool with a topstitching effect or in sumptuous bands on wool and cashmere flannel, embellish even the most ethereal linens, drawing on craftsmanship and ancient techniques. Lastly, the designs woven on jacquard looms, on multicoloured fabrics with a three-dimensional effect, that capture and reflect the light, producing a rich, flowing sensation.
“The new collection is a huge milestone for Loro Piana Interiors, a total innovation. We have always been renowned for our solid colour fabrics available in a wide range of colours, or our stripes, checks or our wide array of weaves”, explains Francesco Pergamo, Director of the Loro Piana Interiors Division. “This time we wanted to be a bit more daring, by presenting a collection devoted exclusively to decoration. But we gave it our personal touch: using our iconic fabrics as a starting point and decorating them with prints, embroidery and jacquard designs. Every one of them elaborate and artisan down to the last detail.”
The colours are carefully formulated to combine perfectly with patterns and coordinate with solid colour fabrics.
“We have focused on practical applications”, continues Pergamo “with clear, highly original examples, using patterns, and putting versatility first. We have used our Ginza furnishings, or our new Delight Chairs, that are a tribute to Giò Ponti’s Italian design, upholstering two historic pieces with our fabrics. We believe the collection will be the perfect complement to our existing range and will allow our clients to give free rein to their creativity. Naturally whilst remaining true to our brand’s trademark elegance.”
The collection is completed with a range of blankets and cushions, which will be showcased, together with the textile innovations, at the Loro Piana Interiors showroom in Paris at 7 Rue Furstemberg and on the Loropiana.com/interiors website.
Prints
Cottage Rose is a floral print of large roses in camaïeu shades, worked in very fine lines to give a beautifully light design. Three colourways blossom on Altai wool and cashmere in its natural Biancore shade, creating an elegant, romantic fabric that is perfect for upholstery, cushions and curtains. In the performing and resistant Spring Cottage Rose version, the petals alight on a blend of cotton and linen, thus extending the brilliance of this graceful design to cooler materials. The Giava print is a geometric design inspired by the brushstrokes of colour on iconic Ikat fabrics. Against a herringbone background, in rich, vibrant tones, it adorns both linen and the new fabric recently developed for outdoor use, Dehors Giava, combining flame-retardant Trevira® with the properties of materials used for exteriors. Kirman is a multicolour geometric design, inspired by the ancient oriental-style fabrics of Loro Piana archives. It is printed in five colourways on wool and cashmere fabric, Altai. When it is worked on the impalpable lightness of linen, Eolo becomes a precious embroidery, a fil coupé effect, transforming itself into a flounce, where the individual elements of the print become embossed applications in colours matching or delicately contrasting with the base, creating curtains of great elegance.
Embroidery
The wool and cashmere flannel, Sumak, is adorned with lavish geometric bands, inspired by ancient fabrics. It is ideal for curtains, small upholstered items, or cushions. Contrasting barré stitching embellishes wool felt, Roseg, creating a warm, enveloping fabric, perfect for upholstery, curtains and cushions, a tribute to one of the most iconic elements of the textile tradition.
Loom weaving and jacquard
Chesa, a soft, enveloping wool and cashmere blend, is a multicolour Madras yarn-dyed check, ideal for upholstery and spectacular cushions. Jacquard looms are used to create the geometric patterns on the cotton fabric, Kalasan, richly coloured with a subtle sheen, also inspired by the Ikat tradition. Antalya is a new cotton and viscose blend that is extremely hard-wearing and very low maintenance, with an irregular geometric pattern.
Outdoor
A step outside will reveal the new Trevira® Dehors Passepartout outdoor fabrics, that are ultra-resilient yet maintains the super softness of linen and cotton. All of the Trevira® products are crafted on jacquard looms, combining double threads of varying fineness to create compact, sharply defined stripes. Beaulieu is a bold stripe in four colourways. St. Tropez has a finer Bengal stripe, which combines perfectly with the solid colours or the more intricate motifs. Cap Ferrat features bands in three colours. Grimaud is a solid colour fabric with a raised diagonal weave, designed to be combined with any of the above, by virtue of its coordinating colours.
Hospitality
Jacquard patterns also feature on the technical fabrics in Trevira®, mainly designed for hospitality. Tarabel is a multicolour diamond pattern in eight colourways. Bel Air has a chequerboard motif with a shimmering surface, available in solid colour or two-tone colourways. Ambassador is a cloth effect Trevira® that is soft and enveloping to the touch and is available in fourteen shades.
Accessories
Essential Check is a super-soft, double-sided wool and cashmere fabric with a multicolour check on one side and mélange on the other, used for creating throws and cushions. The LP Jacquard Plaid is lovingly crafted in cashmere with the Loro Piana logo in jacquard. It is two-tone, with the different shades blending delicately on the two sides. Gossamer soft, it is an alternative to the plain plaids, thanks to its light weight, refreshing colour combination and prominent logo. Ten new shades join the range of Solid Colour Plaid in cashmere with fringe trim, including some bold tones that complete a unique colour palette. The Summer Plaid is a wonder of enveloping, lightweight softness, crafted from the finest Wish® merino wool, made from fibre with a diameter of just 15 microns. The yarn is dazzling white and shimmering, further enhanced by the herringbone weave that captures and reflects the light. The Summer Plaid is the perfect solution on board yachts or in any setting where the utmost comfort, enhanced by the extraordinary properties of merino wool – its gossamer softness and temperature-regulating, moisture-absorbing abilities, with its uniquely light, flowing feel, are a must.
